Easy Ways to Upgrade Your Home Office

A drab and boring home office can be difficult to walk into and become productive. There are numerous ways to freshen up décor to not only boost productivity, but to also make your dedicated work space more inviting to you. These simple upgrades can easily transition your drab home office into a stylish and functioning room.

Add Plants

Houseplants are known to not only help alleviate stress, but also help in keeping that area clutter free. Studies have also suggested that plants can help improve productivity in the office setting. House plants can also offer a nice touch of color and texture to your office. Do you not have a green thumb? Even fake plants can increase the ambience of the room!

Add Room Dividers

Do you have a large office area? Is there a part of the room that you are working on a project and you need to step away from? Adding in a room divider can help hide clutter, allow you to visually take a break from that major project, or be a great back drop for virtual meetings. There are many options available to get the right look. A folding style room divider is easy to move and store or you can opt for a more permanent room divider such as bookshelf or cube storage.

Add Some Lighting

With home renovations on the rise, many people are converting rooms into their home office, which can cause a lack of sufficient or adequate lighting. In a perfect world natural lighting with a touch of task lighting would be ideal, but that isn’t the scenario for a lot of home owners. The next best thing would be to add lighting of different colors and temperatures. Studies show that cooler lighting (hues of blue) can boost concentration while warmer lights (hues of yellow) enhance creativity. What’s great is there is an abundance of light fixtures to choose from varying between permanent fixtures to cordless or rechargeable fixtures.

Use Wall Space for Projects and Planning

While many utilize computers for all of their work needs, it is also great to utilize wall space for prepping, planning, or even storage. Some easy ideas would be functional wall organizers, magnetic hanging boards, sheet metal with picture frame and dry erase calendars.

Many people love the flexibility having a home office adds to their lifestyle so if you have space for one, a few simple changes can turn your extra bedroom or unused dining room into an great office space.
